Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara Weekend trip

Only an hour and a half away from L.A. and about six hours from San Francisco, Santa Barbara serves as one of Southern California’s best places for a weekend trip. The city is know for its broad, sandy beaches and whether you are looking to catch the perfect wave or the perfect sunset, there are plenty from which to choose. Here is my ultimate guide for a Santa Barbara Weekend trip starting and ending in San Francisco.

Saturday

On a Saturday morning we started driving around 6 a.m. in the morning in San Francisco. After six hours we finally arrived in Santa Barbara and checked in at our hotel near the beach. We stayed at the Hotel Milo Santa Barbara, which is only a 9 minutes walk away from Stearns Wharf.

Straight after the check in we went to the beach of Santa Barbara. The most famous beaches lie along the Waterfront, close to Stearns Wharf and the harbor. All beaches are connected by the palm-lined Cabrillo Bike path: East Beach, West Beach and Leadbetter Beach. The weather was very nice outside and we enjoyed the rest of the day on the beach.

Dinner and Party in Santa Barbara

In the evening we went out for Dinner ate Stearns Warf, as it is the perfect place for dinner and for a sunset stroll. After an amazing dinner we went out for party in Santa Barbara, which was really cool and we also liked it because the drinks were not that expansive.

Sunday

After a long party night we decided to sleep in on Sunday and then we got Lunch in the harbour. On the Sunday we slept in and then we went out for lunch in Santa Barbara. After lunch we drove to Butterfly beach.

Don’t forget to visit the stunning butterfly beach!

I will remember this beach forever cause it was a typical California Beach which you can see in the movies all the time. In the evening we drove back to San Francisco. It was a very successful weekend.

Here are other things that you can do in Santa Barbara:

  • Soak up the California surf life
  • Try SUP
  • Explore the botanic gardens
  • Visit a wine region
  • Go whale watching

Santa Barbara is also a perfect spot if you would like to do a Roadtrip through California.

All in all I can say that I really liked out Santa Barbara Weekend trip and I think it is ideal for a weekend getaway or year-round sunny vacation. Also, there are plenty of options for everyone and every budget when creating a Santa Barbara itinerary. For me, the best part of this weekend trip was the Butterfly beach.
