Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura in February

Do you wanna go on holiday to a warm destination in February? But you are not sure about the destination. Than Fuerteventura would be a good choice. In the beginning I was sceptical if it would be a good idea to go there even when the weather is not like summer. But afterwards I can say this was the best decision I made for a vacation in February.

The Island

Fuerteventura is known for its crystal-clear blue water and the long and white sandy beaches. The Island is very popular among surfers because it’s always extremely windy.

Corralejo

My accommodation was in the north of the Island – in the town called Corralejo. And I was so happy that I landed in Corralejo and not in the South. I heard that the south of Fuerteventura is more the touristy hot spot with a lot of big hotel areals. What I really liked about Corralejo is that you see a lot of spanish speaking people, because it is a famous holiday destination for spanish people. I really liked that because on other spanish Islands you usually see a lot of german tourits, which does not make it that authentic.

My accommodation

The name of my hotel is: Surfing Colors. I can totally recommend that accommodation. The staff is super friendly, they offer a lot different breakfast options and it is two minutes away from the beach and approximately 7 minutes from the promenade with the restaurants, bars and shops. Moreover, once per week they offer a barbeque for their guests for only 10€ and with a lot of different food options.

Surfing school

I really like to stay active during vacations and because of that I decided to try 3 days of surfing together with the Corralejo Surfing School. I decided for this school because it was already next to my hotel and they seemed really friendly and professional. The surfing lessons were every morning for 4 hours. In the afternoon I planned different trips to other places of the island.

Isla de Lobos

On one day I took the ferry to the Isla de Lobos. It was only 10€ for a ticket to the Island. From the harbour in Corralejo it took us 15 minutes by boat to get to the island. When we arrived I was positively surprised: No crowds and a lot of nature. The landscape on the island is beautiful. There are tiny hills out of black rocks, some green areas and the ocean seemed to have an even deeper shade of blue than in Fuerteventura.

Food

In the beginning of my trip I was eating out every day in restaurants along the promenade. The food was very good in a every restaurant. But there was one restaurant that is still in my mind, because it was so delicious: Tapas Oscar. It is mainly famous for the Tapas and the Sangría. I ate dates with bacon, shrimp with garlic and baked goat cheese. If you are in Corralejo than I can highly recommend that restaurant.

Renting a car in Fuerteventura

If you would like to rent a car, than I can recommend Rentalcars. If you book a few weeks in advance than the chances are good to get special discounts.

Have you ever been to Fuerteventura? If yes, what can you recommend visiting on the Island?
