Ingredients for Lasagne:

  • 1 pound lasagne noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagne noodles according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. While the noodles are cooking, brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, minced garlic, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to the skillet with the ground beef. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and then mix in the ricotta cheese.
  6. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Top with a layer of lasagne noodles, then a layer of the ricotta cheese mixture, and a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of meat sauce on top.
  7. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top of the lasagne.
  8. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, until the lasagne is hot and bubbly.
  9. Let the lasagne cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
